Evaluation of a diagnostic test: Area Under Curve
This utility can be used to calculate required sample size for evaluation of a diagnostic test study, when input parameters are Area Under Curve.
Formula used and other details
Area under ROC Curve. In percentage. (For example: Please enter 75 for 75% or 0.75 AUC)
Enter positive number between 0.01 to 99.99
Required
Approxiate estimate of Area Under ROC curve for your test. In percentage.
Hypothesized AUC for Null Hypothesis. In percentage. (For example: Please enter 50 for 50% or 0.50 AUC)
Enter positive number between 0.01 to 99.99
Required
AUC of 50% corresponds to no ability of the test to discreminate between diseased and non-diseased. (compared with random guess)
Ratio of Non-diseased to Diseased (N2 / N1)
Enter number from 0.01 to 9.00
Required
If ou intend to include equal number of diseased and non-diseased in your study, enter:1. If you intend to include twice the number of non-diseased than diseased, then enter:2. And so on...
Confidence Level %
Enter positive number between 0.01 to 99.99
Required
In percentage. Commonly used values are 95, 99 and 90. Should be between 0.01 to 99.99.
Power ( 1 - β)
Enter positive number between 0.01 and 99.99
Required
In Percentage. Should be between 0.01 and 99.99. Common values are 80 % and 90 %. Calculations are done considering two one sided tests (TOST).
